Safe to Eat Papaya
Trying to conceive
First, it is not suitable for women to have papaya while trying to conceive.
This is because papaya papain inhibits estrogen production which is responsible for infertility in women.
However, papaya is rich source of vitamin C and beta-carotene which can help to improve sperm counts and sperm quality and is therefore good for fertility in men.
During Pregnancy
It is not suitable for expecting mothers to eat unripe papaya during pregnancy.
Unripe papaya contains latex substance that may cause contractions of the uterus. Hence, expecting mother should avoid unripe papaya.
