Safe to Eat Crab

Is it safe to eat Crab during pregnancy, breastfeeding or while trying to conceieve?Is it healthy for infant, toddler or childrent to eat?

Trying to conceive

You can eat moderate amount of crab while you are trying to conceive.


Crab is a good source of omega-3 fatty acids which is good for brain and reduce chance of heart attack.


Crab is also very nutritious as it contains vitamins A, C, B and minerals like zinc, selenium and copper which are important for couples who are trying to conceive.


However, it is advised that couple should cut down amount of consumption due to concern of food allergy, mercury as well as food poisoning.


During Pregnancy

Crab is not suitable for expecting mothers.


Crab may cause diarrhea and other food poisoning.


Crab also increases the risk of miscarriage.


It is therefore better for pregnant women to avoid crab during pregnancy.


During Confinement

It is not recommended to eat crab during confinement.


Crab is termed as a "cold" food that cause stomach problem or diarrhea in the new mother.


During Breastfeeding

You should limit the amount of consumption during breastfeeding.


Crab is very nutritious which is good for the development of the baby.


However, crab can cause problem in the digestive system like diarrhea. Crab can also cause allergy and its mercury content is also a concern.


Four Months to Six Months Old Baby

It is not suitable for your child at this age to eat crab due to concern of mercury and food allergy.


Seven Months to Nine Months Old Baby

It is not suitable for your child at this age to eat crab due to concern of mercury and food allergy.


Ten Months to Twelve Months Old Baby

It is not suitable for your child at this age to eat crab due to concern of mercury and food allergy.


One Year Old and Above Baby
