Cesarean section or C - section is a surgical procedure used to deliver a baby through incision at the mother's abdomen and uterus.
It is usually used to prevent harm to the health of the mother and baby that may arise if vaginal delivery is adopted.
1. Anesthesia and disinfection. Type of anesthesia given will be agreed on by both the mother, mother's family members and the doctor before the c-section.
2. Incision at the abdomen wall. A horizontal incision will be usually made at the lower abdomen, just above the public bone during c-section.
3. Incision of the uterus. At the beginning, a small incision is made first in order for the doctor to suck out the amniotic fluid.
4. Deliver of the baby. Baby head will come out first, this enables the doctors or assistant to clean up the respiratory tract of the baby so that he or she can breathe.
5. Deliver of the placenta.
6. Stitching of uterus.
7. Stitching of abdomen.
