As opposed to the large increase in prices of baby milk powder over the recent years, the prices of baby diapers have remained stable over the last four years.
According to data compiled by babyment.com, the price per baby diaper in Singapore has mostly remained unchanged or decreased in the last four years despite increases in the prices of two diaper products surveyed. The price per diaper from brands Merries and Huggies has remained unchanged, while that ofPetpet Diaper, Drypers Drypantz andMamypoko Extra Dry has decreased by 5.2% to 11.8%.

Babyment finds that the price per diaper from two major brands Merries and Huggies, namely Merries tape diaper, Merries Walker and Huggies Total Protection has remained unchanged in the last four years.
Furthermore, Drypers Drypantz has a decrease in price per diaper by 5.5% in the last four years. The price per diaper for Petpet Diaper and Mamypoko Extra Dry diaper has also decreased by 5.2% and 11.8% respectively.
However, in 2014, Pampers introduced Baby Dry into the Singapore market to gradually replace Pampers Active Baby. Thus, the price of Pampers diapers increased as the price per diaper for Pampers Baby Dry is1.1% higher than that of Pampers Active Baby.
Similarly, the average price per diaper of Drypers Wee Wee Dry Mega tape diaper has increased by 6.5% from December 2012 to May 2017.
2. Household Expenditure on baby diaper
Babyment.com has conducted a survey on the usage of baby diapers in which 284 parents have participated in. The survey shows that on the average, families with small children spend about $52.4 on baby diapers each month.
The survey also shows that the three most preferred brands of diapers– Mamypoko, Huggies and Drypers have a combined market share of 54.2%. In addition, the price per diaper from these three brands that most parents go for are in the middle price range.
