When and How to Claim Parent Tax Rebate
For legitimate child, the parent tax rebate is to be claimed in the year immediately after the birth of the child
For illegitimate child, the parent tax rebate can only to be claimed in the year immediately following the year of marriage of the natural parents
For legally adopted child, the parent tax rebate is to be claimed in the year immediately following the year of adoption at the time of legal adoption or within 12 months thereafter.
How to Claim Parent Tax Rebate
If you submit your tax return online, claim your tax rebate under the "Deductions and Reliefs" Page to enter the details
If you submit your tax return in paper, you should fill in the Appendix 2 of the tax return and submit together with your tax return.
Relevant Documents May Be Needed
Legal adoption papers (for adopted children), certificate of citizenship (if child is not a citizen at time of birth), marriage certificate and birth certificate of child (if parents are not married when child is born)
